Casablanca’s Oceanfront Wonder

Hassan II Mosque

The Hassan II Mosque is one of the most beautiful and iconic places in Morocco. It stands right on the edge of the ocean in Casablanca, with waves crashing just below its grand walls. Its tall minaret—the tallest in the world—reaches up to the sky, and at night, a green light shines from its top toward Mecca.

Built by thousands of Moroccan craftsmen, the mosque is full of stunning details: colorful mosaics, carved marble, wooden ceilings, and a roof that can even open on sunny days. Inside, it can welcome up to 25,000 people, and many more in the big courtyard outside.

Unlike most mosques in Morocco, this one is open for visitors. You can take a guided tour and walk through the huge prayer hall, see the ocean through the glass floor, and feel the calm and beauty of the space.

It’s not just a place of prayer—it’s a symbol of Morocco’s art, spirit, and connection between earth, sea, and sky. A must-see when visiting Casablanca!
